Yellowstone has inspired visitors from around the globe for over 130 years.  It was the world's first designated national park, and within its 2.2 million acres are over 10,000 thermal features,  plus a spectacular selection of the continent's wildlife and flora.

Much of the park's geology was created as the result of an eruption of the Yellowstone Volcano some 600,000 ago.  It was a cataclysm that left a caldera almost 30 by 40 miles in size and several thousands of feet deep.  Today the volcano is no longer visible, but the tension that exists at the earth's surface is all too evident.  Hot springs, geysers, pools, mudpots and fumeroles abound throughout the park.  Many erupt at regular intervals, while others are less regulated but equally exciting to witness.

This scenery contains as much detail as technically possible including high-resolution terrain that will allow you to discover almost every feature of the park.  Ponder the mysterious Yellowstone Lake, its apparent serenity hiding a dark secret!  Explore the 'Grand Canyon of the Yellowstone' and look deep into the earth's interior.  Marvel at the beautiful Absaroka and Gallatin mountain ranges.  Perhaps you can even spot some wildlife from your aerial vantage point!  All 8,000 kilometres of the park, and more, are yours to explore.
